Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the state government is following the values of Sri Mahatma Basaveshwara, who devoted his life to bringing social change.
Speaking at the 892nd Jayanthi Utsavam held at Ravindra Bharati, Bhatti praised Basaveshwara as a visionary who fought against social evils, no matter the caste or religion. He said the current administration, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is inspired by Basaveshwara’s ideals and is working hard to improve people’s lives.
The Deputy CM shared that the government is listening to citizens through Gram Sabhas and ensuring their voices are heard. One of the key initiatives includes establishing Young India Integrated Residential Schools. These schools aim to bring together students from SC, ST, BC, minority, and OC communities under one roof. The project has a massive budget of ₹11,600 crore, and its goal is to ensure equal education for all.
Bhatti also highlighted efforts to empower women. He said the government has provided interest-free loans worth ₹21,000 crore to women, helping them become financially independent. This, he said, reflects Basaveshwara’s belief in treating women equally.
Responding to recent criticism from former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Bhatti challenged the BRS party to point out where the Congress-led government has failed. He asked, “Is it a failure to follow Basaveshwara’s principles? Is it wrong to conduct a caste census in the spirit of Jyotirao Phule to support underprivileged communities? Is it a failure to offer jobs to the youth who fought for Telangana?”
Bhatti accused both the BRS and BJP of spreading false claims and trying to mislead the public. He assured that, despite these political games, the Congress government remains committed to serving the marginalized and continuing Basaveshwara’s mission of equality and justice.
