Nalgonda:
On Saturday, constables from the 12th Battalion Special Police Force in Annemparthi protested, demanding the implementation of the One Police Policy. They believe this policy would allow them to work closer to their families, have more time off, and stay within their home districts, without affecting their duties.

The constables pointed out that unlike other government employees, they are not allowed to protest publicly on the streets. Despite this, they play a vital role in maintaining public safety, preventing crimes, and protecting important leaders.

Although the government has previously said that the current policy will not change, the constables’ protest has led senior officials to consider making some adjustments.

In response to the protest, District SP Sharath Chandra Pawar met with the constables. The constables presented a written petition explaining their concerns and asking for the One Police Policy to be introduced, mentioning that this policy has been reviewed in other states. The SP assured them that he would take their concerns to the government.

During the protest, Nalgonda Rural SI Saidababu came to monitor the situation. However, the constables greeted him with chants of “Go back!” and he eventually left.

Former MLA Kancherla Bhupal Reddy also visited the battalion to show his support for the protesting constables. However, the battalion police did not allow him to enter, as the District SP was still in discussions with the constables. When Bhupal Reddy insisted on entering, the police arrested him. He was first taken to the Narketpalli police station and later transferred to the Munugodu police station.

After his arrest, the former MLA expressed frustration, saying that his detention was undemocratic. He explained that he only came to support the police families and criticized the government for not keeping its promises and diverting attention away from the real issues faced by the police.
