Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Special Operations Teams from Shamshabad zone and Shadnagar police captured four individuals involved in drug trafficking. They seized various drugs, including heroin, opium, poppy straw, and ganja, with a total value of Rs 3.05 crore.
Those arrested are Vikas Sohu (26) from Rajasthan, along with sub-peddlers Salim from Dhoolpet, Raju from Jalpally, and Ganpath from Madhya Pradesh. The police confiscated 1.5 kg of heroin valued at Rs 3 crore, 632 gm of opium worth Rs 3.16 lakh, 2.8 kg of poppy straw priced at Rs 42,000, and 1 kg of dry ganja worth Rs 50,000. Additionally, Rs 89,700 in cash and three mobile phones were seized, totaling Rs 3,05,27,700.
In 2019, Sohu began working at Sanju Bhai Marwadi Dhaba near the Raikal toll gate NH-44 close to Shadnagar. Starting as a watchman, he learned cooking and eventually became the cook. The dhaba owner, Sanju Bhai, purchased ganja from Salim and sold it to drivers and pedestrians visiting the dhaba, with Vikas assisting in these sales.
After Sanju Bhai passed away on April 28 due to illness, Vikas continued the narcotics trade. Last week, he acquired 1.5 kg of heroin, 750 gm of opium, 3.5 kg of poppy straw from Ganpath, and 1.5 kg of ganja from Raju. He sold some drugs, making Rs 89,700. The remaining drugs included 1.5 kg of heroin, 632 gm of opium, and 2.8 kg of poppy straw. The police, acting on a tip-off, arrested them near the dhaba with 1.5 kg of heroin worth Rs 3.05 crore on the international market.
