Hyderabad: Thousands of devotees celebrated Hanuman Jayanti with great enthusiasm in Hyderabad on Saturday. A special religious procession, called the Vijay Yatra, began at the Ram Mandir in Gowliguda and ended at the Hanuman Mandir in Tadbund, Secunderabad.
The main procession, which was filled with devotees wearing saffron-colored clothes and waving flags, passed through major areas such as Putlibowli, Koti, Kachiguda, Ashok Nagar, and Paradise Crossroads. The event lasted for nearly five hours and took place peacefully under tight security.
Another group of devotees started a smaller procession from the Hanuman temple in Karmanghat, located under the Rachakonda Commissionerate. This group passed through Champapet, Saidabad, Saroornagar, Dilsukhnagar, and Chaderghat before joining the main procession. Local residents greeted the devotees with chants and slogans along the way.
People of all ages participated in the celebrations. Many walked or rode motorcycles while waving saffron flags. Religious songs played over loudspeakers as the crowd moved along the route. The event was organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal.
To support the large number of participants, local community groups set up water stations and food camps. The Hyderabad police also allowed two large sound systems to be used for devotional music during the procession.
Before the procession began, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C. V. Anand visited the Ram Mandir in Gowliguda. He offered prayers at the temple and later inspected the security arrangements to ensure the event went smoothly.
