Hyderabad: The Director-General of Police, Dr. Jitender, said on Tuesday that the government is serious about stopping drug abuse in the State. He told police officers to work closely with local communities, voluntary groups, and student organizations like NCC and NSS to make anti-drug campaigns stronger.
Dr. Jitender spoke during the closing session of a two-day crime review meeting. He said clear instructions have been given to stop drug abuse and asked City Police Commissioners (CPs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to stay alert in their areas. He also stressed the importance of running awareness programs regularly, especially in schools and colleges.
The meeting was attended by top police officials, including DG-CID Shikha Goel, Additional Director Generals (ADGs), Inspectors General (IGs), CPs, and SPs. They discussed various challenges in law enforcement and public safety.
Dr. Jitender also talked about using technology to improve policing. He mentioned the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) project, which the government has heavily invested in. He asked officers to use the e-summons system to make their work more efficient.
DG-CID Shikha Goel gave a detailed report on crime trends in the State. She asked officers to work actively to meet this year’s goals and noted the need to increase the conviction rate.
Additional DGP for Law & Order, Mahesh M Bhagwat, gave a presentation on public safety issues across the State. He also discussed steps to stop the sale of fake seeds to farmers.
Sandeep Shandilya, Director of the TS Anti-Narcotics Bureau, asked officers to raise public awareness about the dangers of drug use. He suggested involving communities and schools in these efforts.
Several other IPS officers also gave presentations on recent progress and challenges their departments are facing.
