In Hyderabad, just before the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, idol makers in the Dhoolpet area were asked to leave the open land where they had set up stalls. These stalls are used to make and sell Ganesh idols for the festival. The local authorities issued eviction orders, causing concern among the idol makers.
Faced with the possibility of losing their workspace, the idol makers reached out for help. They contacted AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, hoping for support. The idol makers explained that moving out would lead to significant financial losses for their families, as they were already prepared with the idols for the festival.
Every year, more than a dozen idol makers use this open area to prepare for the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. This year, however, they received a notice to leave. They made a video plea to Asaduddin Owaisi, asking for a one-month extension to continue their work.
Asaduddin Owaisi, who was in Delhi at the time, instructed Deepesh Raj Varma, AIMIM’s OBC in-charge, to visit the site and report back. He also asked Nampally MLA Mohammed Majid Hussain to speak to the authorities. Thanks to these efforts, Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetty agreed to grant the idol makers a one-month extension.
The idol makers were very grateful for the extension and thanked Asaduddin Owaisi for his intervention and support.
