Families affected by the Regional Ring Road (Triple R) gathered for a large protest at the Choutuppal RDO office in Yadadri-Bhongir. They came together under an all-party forum to voice their concerns on Friday.
These families, including many farmers, protested by sitting at the main entrance and chanting slogans against the government, the Chief Minister, ministers, and MLAs. Their primary concern is that farmers should not lose their homes and lands due to the project.
The protesters demanded that the road’s alignment be moved at least 40 kilometers as previously suggested. They asked for land-to-land compensation or, if not possible, financial compensation at three times the market value.
Various leaders, including MLCs and former legislators, spoke at the event. They claimed the alignment was changed to favor private industries like Divis. They accused the government of prioritizing large companies and contractors over farmers. Former MLC Cherupalli Seetharamulu stated the protest supports development but opposes unfair practices. Ex-MLA Palla Venkat Reddy called for a consistent distance between the ORR and the Triple R, alleging the state undervalues land and deceives farmers.
Former MLA Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy suggested corruption influenced the alignment changes. BJP leader Dr. Gangidi Manohar Reddy mentioned the state has the power to decide, and the central government is willing to support a revised plan.
The protest was led by Chintala Damodar Reddy, the Chairman of the Displaced Families’ Forum. The gathering included many all-party leaders and hundreds of villagers, all committed to continuing their struggle for justice.
