Wanaparthy: The National Legal Services Authority has introduced new guidelines to help settle pending court cases through mediation.
A special 90-day mediation campaign runs from July 1 to September 31. The Telangana State Legal Services Authority, along with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee and the High Court, has instructed all district and mandal legal services bodies in the state to participate.
In Wanaparthy, the district Legal Services Authority has identified 654 cases eligible for mediation, announced M R Sunitha, principal district judge and DLSA chairperson. She was accompanied by Rajani, senior civil judge and DLSA secretary, and K Kiran Kumar, president of the Bar Association. Sunitha explained that mediation allows both parties to settle disputes amicably, quickly, and cost-effectively, without lengthy trials. Discussions involve only the disputing parties, and agreements require mutual consent.
During the 90-day initiative, notices will be issued to involved parties, inviting them to meet with mediators. The public is urged to take advantage of this opportunity. If parties reach a settlement, it will be documented and forwarded to the court for final judgment, helping speed up case resolution.
The DLSA oversees the mediation program, which can resolve disputes related to family, property, consumer issues, land, and certain criminal cases. There are no court fees, and resolutions are achieved through mutual agreement.
