Farmers urge Chief Minister to accelerate progress on irrigation projects in district

In the dry Nadigadda region, farmers gathered to ask Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to finish long-delayed irrigation projects. The Rajoli Banda Diversion Scheme, started in 1946, was meant to bring water to Gadwal, Alampur, and Raichur. Despite hopes, it was never completed.

In 2005, Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy began the Jawahar Nettempadu Lift Irrigation Scheme to help 200,000 acres in Gadwal and Alampur. But like the RDS, this project faced delays and problems. Canals were unfinished and causeways were broken, leaving farmers without water.

The RDS canals from Sindhanoor to Alampur were clogged with mud, causing more issues for farmers. Other reservoir projects like Tummilla and Chinnonipalli also faced setbacks and were left incomplete. This left farmers feeling frustrated and without solutions.
