Hyderabad is taking stronger steps to promote fire safety awareness after a tragic fire at Gulzar Houz claimed 17 lives recently.
To prevent future disasters, the Fire Department has started conducting regular fire drills and safety programs across Greater Hyderabad. These efforts aim to teach people how to react quickly and stay safe during fire emergencies.
Many fires in the city happen in scrap yards, warehouses, furniture workshops, and small factories. Electrical short circuits in buildings are also a major cause.
On Thursday, the Rajendranagar Fire Station team held a detailed mock fire drill at Lakshmiram Haran Apartment in the Attapur division. Fire officers Srinivas and Chandra Nayak, along with their team, showed residents how to use fire safety tools and evacuate safely.
The drill focused on educating women, children, and senior citizens about staying calm and taking the right steps if a fire breaks out. Officials demonstrated how quick thinking can save lives.
A fire officer explained that increasing public awareness and encouraging caution can prevent many accidents. Even small mistakes can have dangerous results, he warned.
To improve safety in crowded places, the department has launched a citywide action plan. This includes regular awareness campaigns and emergency evacuation drills at high-risk locations like schools, hospitals, shopping malls, office buildings, hotels, and banquet halls.
The goal is simple—make every citizen more prepared and alert in case of fire.
