Mulugu: Stay Safe During Heavy Rains

Due to heavy rains, District Collector TS Divakar asked people to stay indoors unless there’s an emergency. On Saturday, he checked the 2nd low-level bridge in Kanthanpalli, Kannaigudem Mandal, and the flood flow at Dayyala Vagu, Raghavapatnam, Govindaraopet Mandal.

The Collector told officials to be alert and ensure the public isn’t inconvenienced by the continuous rain. He suggested evacuating people from low-lying areas if needed, based on past experiences.

Streams and rivers are expected to flow fiercely due to floods from upstream Godavari. Therefore, Tehsildars and MPDOs were instructed to stay available to the public and take immediate preventive actions. Officials were also told to place signboards near fast-flowing streams to warn people.

If any roads are damaged or have strong flood currents, villagers should avoid those areas. Barricades, plastic cones, and other equipment should be set up to prevent accidents.

The Collector advised revenue officials to work with the electricity and R&B departments to take preventive measures to avoid disruptions in road transportation and electricity supply, especially in low-lying areas.

“As the Godavari floodwater rises, it’s important to inform the public about affected villages and roads,” said the Collector. “Transportation control measures should be implemented, and people in flood-prone areas should be moved to safer places.”

The next two days are critical for rains, sanitation, and health issues. All officials should stay alert and focus on flood-related problems. Any emergency situations should be reported to the Collector immediately.

For immediate assistance during the rainy season, contact the ITDA control room at Eturunagaram on cell number 6309842395 or landline number 08717-293246.

The Collector said that officials and staff will be available in shifts 24 hours a day at the control room to address complaints related to rain and flooded areas quickly. They will send the relevant department officials to help immediately.
