As the holy month of Ramzan commenced, Tolichowki road in Hyderabad has witnessed a massive surge of food stalls selling kebabs and haleem, occupying footpaths and carriageways. The entire stretch has been transformed into a bustling food market, with vendors setting up temporary shops on both sides of the road. This annual phenomenon, while popular among food enthusiasts, has raised serious concerns about traffic management and public safety in the area.

On the first day of Ramzan, the encroachment situation became evident as numerous stalls lined the streets, leaving minimal space for pedestrians and vehicular movement. The food vendors have occupied significant portions of the road, creating bottlenecks at multiple points along the Tolichowki stretch. Local commuters have already started experiencing delays, and authorities anticipate the situation will worsen in the coming days as the month progresses and crowds increase.

The traffic congestion is being further aggravated by visitors who park their vehicles haphazardly while purchasing food items. Reports indicate that parked vehicles are occupying two lanes out of four available lanes on the road, effectively reducing the carriageway by half. This has converted what should be a smooth-flowing thoroughfare into a congested single-lane passage, causing severe traffic jams during peak hours, especially during iftar time in the evenings.

The encroachment and parking violations have prompted calls for immediate intervention from traffic authorities. Residents and daily commuters have urged the Traffic DCP to take serious note of the situation and implement necessary measures to ensure smooth traffic flow. The concern is that without proper regulation and enforcement, the traffic situation could become unmanageable as Ramzan progresses and more people visit the area to enjoy the traditional delicacies.

The Tolichowki area is known for its vibrant food culture during the month of Ramzan, attracting thousands of visitors from across Hyderabad and neighboring areas. However, the lack of designated parking spaces and proper vending zones has created a recurring problem every year. Traffic police personnel are expected to increase their presence in the area to manage the flow of vehicles and enforce parking regulations to prevent further deterioration of the traffic situation.
