Hyderabad – NVVS Prabhakar, former MLA and BJP State Vice-President, has strongly criticized Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for failing to release the required state funds needed to implement several Central government schemes.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi on Tuesday, Prabhakar accused the Congress-led state government of neglecting important Central programs. He said that while Revanth Reddy speaks about supporting the federal system, in reality, his government weakens Central schemes by changing their names and reducing their impact.
Prabhakar called this a betrayal of the people of Telangana. He claimed that the state government is not fully using Central initiatives meant to benefit the public.
He also met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to raise concerns about the poor implementation of key schemes like Awas Yojana, Fasal Bima Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and PM Kusum Yojana. He discussed the delay in releasing Central funds to local bodies, including gram panchayats and municipalities, which are allocated by the Finance Commission.
According to Prabhakar, the state’s financial health is rapidly declining. He told the Finance Minister that the Telangana government cannot borrow additional funds because it has already exceeded its borrowing limit under the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act.
He urged the Central government to step in and ensure that Telangana citizens are not denied the benefits of national welfare programs due to the state’s fiscal mismanagement.
