Gadwal is preparing for a significant event as many seed cotton farmers plan to gather on May 31 to protest against seed companies. They accuse these companies of exploiting them with dishonest practices.
The Nadigadda Rights Struggle Committee, a group supporting farmers’ rights, is organizing the protest. During a press meeting in Dharur mandal, Committee President Nettempadu Govind urged all district farmers to unite for justice.
Govind criticized the seed companies for constantly finding new ways to deceive farmers. He said they manipulate prices and falsely label good quality seeds as failed, trapping farmers in debt and despair.
According to Govind, companies avoid increasing seed packet prices and reject quality seeds by claiming they fail tests. This behavior harms farmers financially, emotionally, and socially, leading them into loans and crop failures.
The committee plans to present a detailed report to the District Collector on May 31. This report will expose the exploitation, fraud, pricing issues, and lack of compensation affecting seed cotton farmers.
Govind emphasized that this fight is crucial for the farmers’ future, saying, “If we don’t act now, seed cotton farming here has no future.”
The press briefing included influential movement leaders like Jammanna, Vice Presidents Adavi Anjaneyulu and Maldakal Anjaneyulu, Mandal Secretary Ramu, and senior members Veeresh and Govindu. They committed to rallying farmers from every village for the protest.
Farmers are raising several key issues:
– Unjust Seed Pricing: Companies are not increasing packet prices, causing financial losses.
– Fake Test Results: Good seeds are wrongly labeled as “failed,” preventing refunds or replacements.
– Organized Cheating: Companies and local organizers deliberately push farmers into debt.
– Demand for Accountability: Farmers urge district officials to protect their rights promptly.
The upcoming protest is seen as a crucial point in the farmers’ fight for justice. Backed by rural leaders and collectives, they aim to pressure authorities to regulate seed companies and ensure fair agricultural practices.
As the date approaches, all attention is on Gadwal, where farmers will not only protest but also strive to restore their dignity and secure the justice they deserve.
