The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated a comprehensive enforcement drive to remove unauthorised hoardings, banners, and advertisement structures across the city. The special operation follows the recent merger of new municipalities into GHMC and aims to address the growing problem of illegal advertising that poses risks to public safety and affects the city’s aesthetic appeal. The civic body has announced that the drive will be implemented in a phased and continuous manner throughout Hyderabad.

A dedicated enforcement team has been constituted by GHMC to strictly monitor and regulate advertisements across all zones of the city. The team will identify illegal hoardings, flex banners, and other advertising materials that have been erected without proper authorization from the municipal authorities. The enforcement personnel have been given clear instructions to take immediate action against violators and ensure that all advertising structures comply with the established norms and regulations.

The civic body has emphasised that the crackdown is essential for enhancing public safety and road safety in the city. Unauthorised hoardings and advertisement boards often obstruct visibility for motorists and pedestrians, creating potential hazards on busy roads and intersections. Additionally, poorly constructed advertising structures pose risks during adverse weather conditions, including strong winds and heavy rainfall, which could lead to accidents and property damage.

GHMC officials have stated that violations will attract strict action under the corporation’s existing norms and regulations. Advertisers and property owners who have erected or allowed unauthorised advertisements on their premises will face penalties. The municipal body has urged all advertisers, advertising agencies, and property owners to obtain prior permissions before installing any hoardings or banners and ensure full compliance with the prescribed guidelines.

The enforcement drive is part of GHMC’s broader initiative to beautify the city and maintain orderly urban spaces. The civic body has called upon citizens to cooperate with the enforcement teams and report any illegal advertisements in their localities. Advertisers have been advised to approach the appropriate GHMC offices to secure necessary permissions and follow the stipulated procedures for legal advertisement installations across Hyderabad.
