    Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been actively conducting raids to ensure food safety in the city. On Friday, the food safety officers from GHMC carried out inspections in hostel canteens across Hyderabad.

    The officers visited a total of 28 government and private residential schools, colleges, and hostels within the GHMC limits. During these inspections, they thoroughly checked various aspects such as the kitchen, cooking utensils, water tanks, storage areas, prepared food items, raw materials, and overall sanitation management.

    The food safety officers issued warnings to the residential educational institutions and hostels that were not adhering to the food safety rules. They mentioned that show-cause notices would be sent to those who fail to comply.

    In the past two days, the officers inspected 28 hostels, including six in the Charminar area, five each in Khairtabad and Serilingampally, and four in Kukatpally, L B Nagar, and Secunderabad zones.

    The food safety wing reported that these inspections were conducted based on instructions from GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata. The Commissioner has ordered the officers to continue these inspections for a total of 15 days.
