Hyderabad: The Telangana government has launched a major road development project worth Rs 6,478 crore to improve rural connectivity and infrastructure. This initiative will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, the Roads and Buildings Minister, highlighted the project’s importance for the state’s balanced development. He emphasized that quality roads are crucial for economic growth and regional equality. The plan aims to connect every village to its mandal and every mandal to its district headquarters with high-standard roads.
In Phase-1, work will start on 17 packages, covering 373 roads over a total of 5,190 km. Tenders are already in process, and construction is expected to begin soon. The plan includes blacktop roads for villages and double-lane roads for mandal to district headquarters connections. This will greatly enhance transportation, access to essential services, and local mobility throughout Telangana.
Minister Venkat Reddy thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for quickly approving the project. He praised the Roads and Buildings Department and Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj for their detailed project preparation and field visits.
The government aims to ensure that growth reaches the grassroots. Through HAM, they are not just building roads but paving the way for Telangana’s future. This extensive road programme is part of a broader commitment to long-term transformation, focusing on sustainable development over temporary solutions.
