Hyderabad: Malkajgiri MP and BJP National Executive member, Eatala Rajender, has strongly criticized the State government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over land acquisition efforts in Kodangal, Vikarabad district.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Rajender expressed concerns about the government’s plan to acquire 1,350 acres and another 1,500 acres of land in several villages, including Lagacharla, Hakimpet, Polepalli, and Pulichar. He said these lands are being taken in the name of setting up pharmaceutical companies in Kodangal, which is the Chief Minister’s own constituency.
Rajender accused certain brokers and middlemen of threatening people who hold assigned lands, and alleged that some landowners have been forced to hand over their land. He claimed that the government is trying to purchase land from farmers at significantly lower prices—land worth Rs. 40 lakh per acre is being taken for just Rs. 10 lakh. Local residents have protested against the government’s actions, saying they will not leave their villages.
The MP also accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government of “torturing” the people who voted for him by shutting down internet services in the affected villages.
Rajender further mentioned that MP DK Aruna, who came to support the farmers and villagers, was blocked by the police using barricades. However, he pointed out that the Chief Minister’s brother was allowed to enter the villages with a convoy of 50 cars and 300 people. According to Rajender, they went around the villages, threatening the people, and warned that if they did not agree to sign over their land, their children might end up in jail.
