Hyderabad: The Telangana government is planning a new way to help students in government residential schools get their cosmetic charges directly.
On Wednesday, Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao led a meeting to discuss how to transfer these funds straight to the students’ bank accounts. This move will benefit students from Social Welfare, Minority Welfare, Tribal Welfare, and Residential Schools across the state.
Officials aim to complete the process by the end of June, before schools reopen. Around 6 lakh students are expected to receive this support.
Each student’s Aadhaar number and photo will be linked to their bank account. They will also receive a debit card to access the funds easily.
The Chief Secretary also suggested setting up a smart card system. With this card, students can buy soaps and other personal care items from mobile sales centers operated by women’s self-help groups.
The government wants all payments to be made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on the same day statewide. This will ensure transparency and quick access to funds.
This initiative is part of Telangana’s ongoing efforts to support students in state-run schools and simplify the way benefits reach them.
