Hyderabad – Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the Telangana government is moving ahead with strong plans to boost the electric vehicle (EV) charging network across the State.
Speaking at the Energy Ministries Conference, Bhatti emphasized the government’s push to make setting up EV charging stations quicker and easier. He explained that improving the process will help expand the electric mobility sector and meet the needs of a growing number of EV users.
To handle this increased demand, Telangana is also working on strengthening its intra-state power transmission network. Bhatti revealed that new transmission lines and upgrades in transformation capacity are in the pipeline. These upgrades will support future electricity needs and make room for various energy sources to be connected efficiently.
The Deputy CM stressed the importance of long-term planning, saying the State is already planning its power transmission strategy through 2034–35. This roadmap aims to ensure that the grid remains strong and reliable as energy demands grow.
The government is also focusing on improving the financial health of power distribution companies (discoms). Bhatti underlined efforts to cut technical and commercial losses, which often lead to wasted energy and financial strain. Strengthening the sector financially will make it more attractive for future investments and ensure consistent service for consumers.
These steps, he said, are vital to keeping Telangana’s energy sector on a stable and sustainable path while supporting the shift toward cleaner transportation.
