Hyderabad: On Monday, BRS senior leader T Harish Rao expressed frustration with the government for not providing timely relief or informing families after an accident, even after five hours had passed. He demanded compensation of Rs 1 crore for the families of the deceased and Rs 50 lakh for the injured.
Harish Rao, along with MLA Chinta Prabhakar and other leaders, visited the site of a fire accident at Pashamylaram Industrial Estate in Sangareddy district. He spoke with the District Collector, SP, and NDRF teams about the ongoing relief efforts. Later, addressing the media, he criticized the government’s delay in response and communication with the victims’ families. “It’s tragic that eight people died in this explosion. My condolences go to their families. At the time of the accident, 140 people were working in the company. The entire four-storey building collapsed. Eight people died, and about 26 were taken to various hospitals. The status of the others is still unknown, and families are anxiously seeking information,” Rao stated.
Harish Rao requested the Collector and SP to provide updates to the families. Many workers are from other states, increasing their families’ anxiety. He urged officials to set up a control room and a common contact number. “Five hours have passed, and what is being done? The NDRF is effectively tracing those involved in the accident, but the government’s response has been irresponsible. Special officers should be appointed, and an attendance list should be maintained,” he insisted.
He also highlighted discrepancies in the information provided by the Collector and SP regarding the number of workers present during the accident. Rao questioned why those with severe burns were sent to primary care hospitals instead of corporate hospitals. He advised the government to transfer them to AIG, CARE, and Apollo hospitals for better treatment.
