Health Minister Damodara Rajanarsimha stated that there needs to be a thorough discussion about whether NEET should be used for medical admissions. He brought up this topic during a casual conversation with the media on Doctors Day. The minister questioned whether NEET should be a national exam or managed by individual states. He highlighted the importance of weighing the benefits and drawbacks of each approach and suggested that a decision should be made after a broad discussion in platforms like Parliament and State Assemblies.

Rajanarsimha also mentioned that the government is working towards improving healthcare for the general public. In addition to enhancing the availability of treatment and medical equipment in hospitals, efforts will be made to educate people about which illnesses can be treated at specific hospitals. He emphasized that the process of revamping the health department has already started, with a focus on seniority.

He expressed that changes are being implemented from the ground level to leadership positions based on seniority. Rajanarsimha announced plans for establishing new medical colleges in the state and encouraged healthcare professionals to work in rural and underserved areas. He assured that any challenges faced in carrying out their duties will be addressed if reported to him.
