Southwest monsoon is actively moving through the two Telugu states. The Meteorological Department reports that circulation is present in the Bay of Bengal. Surface troughs are forming from Bangladesh to southern Odisha and from Marathwada through Telangana to coastal Andhra Pradesh.
These conditions suggest moderate rain in the next 24 hours, with possible heavy showers along the coast. Today, some districts like Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram-Manyam, Alluri Seetharamaraju, Anakapalle, NTR, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, and Nandyal may experience light to moderate rain with thundershowers. Other districts might see lighter rain.
In Telangana, similar weather is expected. Surface circulation is detected at 5.8 km above sea level in Marathwada, with a trough extending from Telangana to the North Andhra coast at 3.1 km. On June 15, heavy rain with thunder and lightning is likely in areas like Ranga Reddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagar Kurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba, and Gadwal.
Temperature forecasts show a high of 37.5°C in Nalgonda and a low of 28.8°C in Mahabubnagar.
Authorities advise caution due to these weather changes. Farmers, in particular, should protect their crops. With the Kharif season starting, many farmers are actively working. The rain benefits agriculture; they are already ploughing and sowing seeds for cotton, maize, sorghum, and paddy. The wet soil is expected to boost seed growth and crop yields.
