Hyderabad Police implemented stringent security measures at BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao’s (KCR) residence in Nandi Nagar, Banjara Hills on February 1, 2025, as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrived to conduct investigations related to the phone tapping case. Heavy police forces were deployed across the area, with roads barricaded and traffic movement severely restricted. The heightened security arrangements were put in place anticipating potential protests by BRS workers in response to the SIT’s visit to the former Chief Minister’s residence.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police issued a comprehensive traffic advisory warning commuters about diversions and restrictions in the Banjara Hills area. The advisory stated that traffic diversions would be implemented from 1100 hours on a need basis in connection with the SIT investigation at Nandi Nagar and surrounding areas. Authorities cautioned that normal traffic flow would be significantly affected throughout the day as security operations continued.
According to the official traffic advisory, vehicles would be either stopped or diverted at multiple strategic locations across the area. The affected points include Nandinagar Bus Stop, Nandinagar Welfare Association Building, JC Reddy Chicken Center, Union Bank By-lane, Basavatarakam Rotary, Agrasen Junction, TS Study Circle, NTR Bhavan, MRC Kamaan on Road No.12, and Sagar Society ‘T’ Junction. Commuters were advised to plan alternate routes and expect delays while traveling through these areas.
The phone tapping case has emerged as a significant political controversy in Telangana, with investigations focusing on alleged illegal surveillance activities. The SIT’s visit to KCR’s residence marks a crucial development in the ongoing probe. Traffic restrictions remained in effect throughout the investigation period, with police maintaining tight control over movement in the vicinity of the BRS chief’s home to ensure smooth conduct of the inquiry and prevent any law and order situations.
