Hyderabad: Engineering colleges and other professional institutions in Telangana plan to strike starting November 3. The Federation of Associations of Telangana Higher Institutions (FATHI) announced this decision due to unpaid fee reimbursement dues.
Initially, colleges were set to close on October 13. This plan changed after a meeting with Advisor to Chief Minister Vem Narender Reddy. He promised to release Rs 300 crore in dues before Diwali.
Colleges postponed their strike based on this assurance. The executive council (EC) agreed to wait after the advisor’s promise.
However, the government did not deliver the funds by the festival. As a result, institutions decided to close from November 3. On October 22, FATHI will notify the government about the shutdown.
The affected institutions include engineering, pharmacy, law, nursing, MBA, MCA, and BEd colleges. The response from the government to this notice is still unknown.
