Hyderabad experienced heavy rainfall on Tuesday, which severely disrupted daily life across the city. The continuous downpour led to water-logging in many areas and caused widespread traffic jams. Residents voiced their concerns, stating that they had been struggling with water-logged streets for the past 24 hours. The rain started suddenly on Monday and continued through Tuesday morning and into the night.
In Tolichowki, people had to wade through knee-deep water to get around. Similar situations were reported in several other areas, including Yousufguda, Srinagar Colony, Ameerpet, Mehdipatnam, Shaikpet, and Secunderabad. The heavy rain also caused open drains and manholes to overflow, leading to water entering homes, especially in low-lying areas. The worst-hit localities included Saroornagar, LB Nagar, Dilsukhnagar, Rajendranagar, Nampally, Nagole, Tellapur, Boduppal, Gachibowli, Chaitanyapuri, Musheerabad, Shivarampally, Parsigutta, Uppal, and parts of the Old City.
The rain also led to significant traffic jams in various parts of the city, making it difficult for commuters to get around. Areas like Masab Tank, Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki, Shaikpet, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Punjagutta, Kukatpally, and Begumpet saw heavy traffic congestion. Commuters were left frustrated as they navigated through the traffic in the continuous rain.
The traffic police and Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams were actively working on the streets to clear water and ease the traffic situation. Authorities advised people in flooded areas to take alternate routes if possible. Areas such as Rasoolpura, Begumpet, and the HPS outgate also experienced slow traffic due to the rain.
Further traffic congestion was reported in Malakpet, Chaderghat, Uppal, LB Nagar, and on the Bahadurpura-Shivarampally road, partly due to ongoing construction work. Police were stationed at key junctions to help manage the traffic, and commuters were encouraged to use different routes to avoid delays.
In a related incident, a part of the LB Stadium boundary wall collapsed on Tuesday. The collapse caused significant damage to several police vehicles that were parked near the old CCS office. Additionally, a nearby tree was uprooted, which added to the disruption caused by the heavy rains.
