The Special Crime Team of the Central Crime Station (CCS), Detective Department, Hyderabad, in coordination with Hussainialam Police, arrested a man on December 31, 2024, for illegally possessing a country-made firearm. The accused, identified as Amjad Khan (29), a resident of Hussainialam, was apprehended based on credible intelligence. During the operation, police seized a 0.7 mm country-made pistol and a mobile phone from his possession. The arrest was conducted by Sri D. Bikshapathi, Inspector of Police, Special Crime Team, under the direct supervision of Sri G. Venkateswar Reddy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, SCT, CCS Hyderabad.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had allegedly purchased the illegal weapon approximately 10 months ago through intermediaries from Madhya Pradesh for a sum of ₹80,000. According to police sources, Khan kept the firearm with the intention of threatening members of the general public. Authorities have identified two other accused individuals who were involved in supplying the weapon to Khan. These suspects are currently absconding, and police teams have launched efforts to track them down and bring them into custody.
The Hyderabad City Police have issued a public advisory urging individuals who are in illegal possession of firearms to voluntarily surrender their weapons at the nearest police station. The police department emphasized that they are maintaining strict surveillance against anti-social elements across the city to prevent illegal arms trafficking and ensure public safety. The authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking stringent action against those found violating arms regulations and engaging in activities that threaten law and order.
