Hyderabad has a new Police Commissioner, Sajjanar, who is determined to fight the city’s increasing drug issue firmly. After starting his role, he spoke to the media and emphasized the need to disrupt drug supply chains. “Drugs are our main challenge now. We will take tough actions against those supplying them,” he stated.
To maintain order in Hyderabad, Sajjanar plans to work with police from other states. He also mentioned possibly reallocating officers to strengthen efforts against drug problems.
Sajjanar is also concerned about the rise in cyber crime, especially targeting vulnerable people like the elderly. He warned residents to be careful of scam calls, particularly those promising stock market investment returns. “Fraudsters mainly target the elderly,” he noted, stressing the importance of awareness to avoid financial scams.
The Commissioner also addressed the negative impact of online betting. He urged celebrities not to promote such platforms, saying, “Online betting is seriously harming the youth.” He also cautioned against scams involving rare disease medications and promised increased surveillance to catch online fraudsters.
Looking ahead, Sajjanar aims to improve food safety in the city. He announced plans to create a task force to tackle food adulteration and a market intelligence system to identify and punish violators.
