Hyderabad – Mahadev Vidrohi, who leads the Akhil Bharat Sarvodaya Mandali, has urged the government to honor Vedire Ramachandra Reddy in a meaningful way. Reddy was the first landowner to donate land during the historic Bhoodan movement, a campaign that aimed to distribute land to the poor.
Speaking at Deshoddaraka Bhavan in Bashir Bagh on Sunday, Vidrohi met with the national president of the Mandali, Vedire Arvind Reddy, to discuss this request. He called for a statue of Ramachandra Reddy to be installed in recognition of his selfless contribution.
Vidrohi also proposed that Reddy’s inspiring story be added to school textbooks. He believes this would help younger generations understand the importance of the Bhoodan movement and the role Reddy played in it.
In addition, he asked the Telangana state government to recommend Vedire Ramachandra Reddy for the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award, one of India’s highest civilian honors.
He further appealed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to officially commemorate Ramachandra Reddy’s birth and death anniversaries, ensuring the legacy of this important figure continues to be remembered and respected.
