In the Agency area of Jainoor mandal, Komaram Bheem district, many female students who were about to leave school are now attending a new Residential School. This school is operated by the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS) and currently has 270 girls enrolled. These students were at risk of discontinuing their education due to inadequate facilities in their region.

TMREIS is making significant progress, with over 93,000 students enrolled this year. The society focuses on encouraging female student enrollment, especially in remote areas. This initiative has provided new opportunities for many potential dropouts. According to Aisha Masrat Khanam, the Society’s secretary, around 150 girls could not attend high school due to the lack of English medium schools in Jainoor and nearby areas. She mentioned that parents have requested the initiation of high school classes in the Jainoor residential school for the next academic year.

Before this institution was established, students had to travel 60 to 70 kilometers to reach the nearest high schools. Some were even enrolled in madrasas. The boys’ campus in Utnoor, Adilabad, also focuses on providing quality education to underprivileged students for free. This year, 30 students joined the nearby TGMREIS school in Kagaznagar and Utnoor. The school introduced vocational courses like MLT and computer graphics and plans to offer certified courses in emerging technologies such as generative AI, metaverse, and blockchain next year.

With a budget of approximately Rs 1,000 crore, TMREIS aims to increase student enrollment to over 1 lakh next year. By the end of the 2023-24 academic year, the TMR Schools and Junior Colleges had 83,128 students enrolled, from a sanctioned strength of 1.3 lakh students. The student body maintains a 75:25 ratio of Minority and non-Minority students. The official expressed confidence that with continued support from the State government, achieving full enrollment capacity will be possible in the coming years.
