Hyderabad: Tensions have risen among BRS leaders following the removal of MLC Kavitha as honorary president of the Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS). She was replaced by ex-minister Koppula Eshwar. Currently in the United States, Kavitha wrote to workers, alleging a plot against her.
Kavitha was upset about being removed while overseas. The BRS leadership made this decision during a meeting at Telangana Bhavan. Addressing the Singareni Coal Mine workers in her letter, she described herself as a sister to their families. Kavitha argued that the election was driven by political motives, not labor law concerns. She highlighted her role in the Telangana movement, uniting coal workers, and becoming TBGKS Honorary President in August 2015.
She also emphasized her efforts in advocating for Singareni workers under Congress governance in Telangana. Kavitha claimed that some began plotting against her to weaken worker unity. She reminded workers of her efforts in restoring jobs, waiving housing loan interest, providing free electricity, and increasing grants.
A senior party member suggested this incident highlights widening family rifts. Kavitha remarked that as a devoted party member, her call to expose those leaking her letter led to further harassment. Regardless of her TBGKS position, she affirmed her commitment to the workers’ community.
