Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, has called on women across India to unite in working towards a developed India (Viksit Bharat) by 2047. He emphasized the importance of women’s role in making India a global leader.
He spoke at an event organized by Coal India Limited and the Ministry of Mines ahead of International Women’s Day. The event, themed “Celebrating Women in the Mining Sector,” aimed to recognize and empower women in mining. Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, and Telangana’s Minister of Women and Child Welfare, D. Anasuya (Seethakka), also attended.
Kishan Reddy highlighted various government initiatives to empower women. He noted that 15% of Air Force pilots in India are women, a figure unmatched by any other country. He also pointed out that women have been excelling in leadership roles in banking, ISRO, medical research, education, and now even in mining.
Efforts are being made to increase women’s participation in Singareni mines. The Jyoti Women Leadership Program by Coal India is providing special training to help women develop leadership skills. Kishan Reddy has instructed the Department of Coal and Mines and Coal India to work towards making women 100% of the workforce in the mining sector, from officers to workers.
Union Minister of State Satish Chandra Dubey spoke about government efforts to promote gender diversity. Telangana’s Minister of Women and Child Welfare, Seethakka, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting women in all fields, including mining, through various policies and initiatives.
