Hyderabad: Union Minister for Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy has accused the Congress party of being involved in several major corruption scandals throughout India’s history. Speaking to the media in New Delhi on Wednesday, he mentioned the Bofors scam, the 2G spectrum scam, and the coal scam as examples.

He also alleged that the Congress was now trying to misuse thousands of crores of rupees in the National Herald case. Kishan Reddy said the National Herald newspaper, which was founded by freedom fighters, is now being used to transfer valuable assets to a real estate firm linked to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.

He criticized the Congress for protesting while the case is under investigation, saying that if they respected the law, they would not be staging such protests. He further claimed that the Nehru-Gandhi family is more interested in benefiting personally than in serving the country.

Kishan Reddy said the Congress has a long history of corruption, weakening democratic institutions and making the country a center for scams. He pointed out that the National Herald case was first filed in 2012 by Subramanian Swamy when the Congress-led UPA was in power under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

According to Kishan Reddy, the Congress party had given a loan of ₹90 crore to the National Herald, but the money was later transferred to a real estate company for just ₹50 lakh. He said this company is connected to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.

He explained that the Congress tried to get the case dismissed by the courts, but the High Court and Supreme Court both ruled that an investigation must continue. He noted that Congress leaders claim these issues only started after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, but the case dates back to before that time.

Kishan Reddy also reminded people of other scams involving the Congress, such as the AgustaWestland scam. He said there is strong evidence that Sonia and Rahul Gandhi were involved in wrongdoing and questioned whether they will continue to mislead the public.

He accused Congress of trying to hide the truth through protests and demonstrations. He said people are now mocking these protests, which appear to be aimed at protecting the Gandhi family from corruption charges.

Reddy also mentioned that around 5,000 freedom fighters were shareholders in the National Herald, but now the newspaper’s assets are reportedly controlled by Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. He questioned how Congress could give ₹90 crore to the newspaper and then allow the assets to be taken over for just ₹50 lakh by a company in which the Gandhis have the majority stake.

He concluded by saying that the BJP in Telangana strongly condemns these actions. He urged constitutional authorities not to be intimidated by Congress protests. He added that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is actively investigating the case and has applied for permission to seize properties in cities like Lucknow, Patna, Bhopal, Mumbai, Delhi, and Indore.
