Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao expressed regret and apologized for comments he made about women passengers who were traveling for free on state-owned RTC buses.
In an official statement, the Telangana Women’s Commission confirmed that KTR apologized during their proceedings. He admitted that his remarks were inappropriate and acknowledged that, as a leader, he should not have made such comments.
The Commission accepted KTR’s apology but issued a warning, instructing him to refrain from making similar remarks in the future. They also informed him that any repeat of such behavior could result in further action by the Commission.
KTR had been summoned by the Commission after making derogatory comments about women traveling on RTC buses. On Saturday, KTR appeared before the Commission, as requested, and provided an explanation for his statements.
Speaking to reporters, KTR reiterated his apology for the offhand remark and emphasized his deep respect for women. He also expressed his respect for the law and constitutional bodies, which is why he personally appeared before the Commission to respond.
KTR further stated that there should be decency in politics and that leaders should have the humility to apologize when they make mistakes.
However, he criticized Congress leaders for causing disruptions during his visit to the Women’s Commission office. He also condemned their attack on BRS women leaders who accompanied him in solidarity, accusing the Congress of trying to politicize the incident.
