In Nagarkurnool district, a Clean and Green program was initiated by the state government ten days ago. As part of this program, plants were planted in various departments. However, without proper supervision and care, many of these saplings are now drying up.
One major issue is that the soil around the plants was not filled correctly, and watering was neglected. This problem is particularly noticeable in the Zilla Parishad (ZP) ground in Nagarkurnool town, where Municipal Commissioner Naresh Babu had overseen the tree planting. Now, many of the trees have dried up, and some saplings were even left unplanted and discarded.
Town residents have expressed their disappointment over the situation. People who walk around the ZP ground in the mornings and evenings noticed the poor condition of the saplings. They took photos and videos to highlight the negligence on social media. Despite this, the officials seem to be indifferent to the problem.
The residents are upset that the trees were planted merely to fulfill a government order, without any real effort to ensure their survival. The Clean and Green program, which was supposed to last at least five days, ended up being just a formality, according to the townspeople.
Locals are now urging the officials to take the initiative seriously and care for the saplings by watering them regularly. There are also complaints that many government offices in the district did not receive the necessary saplings from the municipality, which prevented the program from being properly implemented.
The public is calling for strict action against the negligent officials responsible for the failure of the program. They are concerned that the same officials and leaders who were eager to pose for photographs while planting the trees have now forgotten about their care and maintenance.
