Mahabubnagar: District Collector Viziyendira Boi initiated a health campaign to combat mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue, Malaria, and Chikungunya. Every Friday is now a ‘Dry Day’ in the district to prevent mosquito breeding.
Residents are encouraged to spend 10 minutes at 10 a.m. each Friday to clean their surroundings. They should eliminate stagnant water from areas like coolers, coconut shells, and flower pots. The Collector emphasized that keeping these areas clean is crucial to stopping the spread of dangerous fevers.
During a Webex meeting with local officials, Viziyendira Boi highlighted the importance of a cleanliness drive in all municipalities and gram panchayats. She insisted that every community participate to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.
“Protecting public health is crucial. With dengue cases emerging, we must act. Everyone should support the Dry Day initiative,” the Collector said.
Officials were instructed to find dengue-prone areas and increase sanitation efforts like fogging and garbage removal. Plot owners must clean their land, or they will face penalties.
The Collector also ordered thorough cleaning of residential schools, KGBVs, and government hostels. ASHA workers will visit 50 homes daily to survey for fevers, educate on mosquito control, and ensure homes stay mosquito-free. Each household will receive four visits by September.
Municipalities and Panchayats will use audio messages in autos and tractors to inform residents about the importance of sanitation and mosquito prevention.
