Hyderabad: A major scam involving the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) has come to light in Telangana, causing a stir across the state. The Telangana police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigation into this scam, where private hospitals allegedly attempted to siphon off crores of rupees from the government.
The scam involves the submission of fake bills by several private hospitals. These hospitals and individuals tried to claim large amounts of money from the CMRF by presenting these fraudulent bills to the government.
The issue came to light after a complaint was filed by an official from the CMRF wing of the Revenue Department of the state government. According to the First Information Report (FIR), six private hospitals located in Meerpet, Hasthinapuram, BN Reddy Nagar, Rangareddy, Kothapet, and Bairamalguda were allegedly involved in this scam.
The accused hospitals and individuals are suspected of creating fake bills and submitting them to the Chief Minister’s office in an attempt to secure funds from the CMRF. They are being accused of forgery and attempting to deceive the state government.
As per the FIR, employees and some local individuals, in collaboration with the hospital administrations, dishonestly tried to misappropriate state government funds for their personal gain. After preparing these fake bills, they submitted them to the Chief Minister of Telangana for the sanction of the CMRF, thereby committing fraud.
As part of the investigation, CID teams inspected several hospitals across the state, including those in Karimnagar, Ranga Reddy, Warangal, and Medak, to uncover more details about the scam.
