Gadwal: Dr. Mallu Ravi, a Member of Parliament, stressed the importance of ensuring that welfare and development programs from the Central and State Governments reach the right people. He spoke about this during a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the Collector’s office.
The meeting focused on reviewing progress in sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture, and rural development. It also covered banking, Panchayati Raj, child welfare, civil supplies, and industries.
Recognition for Gattu Block
Mallu Ravi praised the district officials for Gattu Mandal being ranked among the top five blocks in the country by NITI Aayog. He commended District Collector B.M. Santosh and his team for their hard work.
Banking and Financial Inclusion
He urged banks, whether public, private, or rural, to process loans efficiently. He also called for the establishment of SBI branches in Erravalli and Dharur mandals and recommended setting up digital libraries in the area.
MGNREGS and Rural Development
The district has issued 1.56 lakh job cards under MGNREGS. In the past three months, 2,074 man-days were generated, with a total payout of ₹14.45 crore. MGNREGS funds are also being used for nursery and plantation activities under the Vanamahotsavam program.
Swachh Bharat and Social Welfare
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, ₹12,000 per toilet was provided for sanitation. Additionally, 17,549 people, including seniors and widows, are receiving pensions. The Mahila Shakti scheme is helping women become economically independent by setting up petrol stations and solar units.
Agriculture and Soil Health
The Agriculture Department is collecting soil samples from 6,000 farmers to issue Soil Health Cards for better crop yield.
Healthcare Initiatives
Under the NPCDCS, women received medical screenings and medications. Blood pressure and diabetes were detected in 57,400 and 26,000 people, respectively, who are now being treated. 661 TB patients receive free treatment and ₹3,000 monthly allowance. The district has 10 Primary Health Centers and 57 sub-centers, with 3,328 people treated under the Aarogyasri scheme.
Educational Progress
In education, 3,994 students attend 12 KGBV schools, with a 91% pass rate in the 10th-grade exams last year. A new menu was introduced under the Midday Meal Scheme, and textbooks and uniforms were distributed. Schools in poor condition are being renovated.
Drinking Water Supply
The Mission Bhagiratha scheme ensures clean drinking water through pipelines to 255 villages. The Summer Action Plan includes water tankers and borewell repairs for a steady supply.
Infrastructure and Roads
Pending road projects under the PMGSY are expected to be completed soon. Mallu Ravi called for better coordination between departments to meet goals and implement welfare programs effectively.
Collector’s Remarks
District Collector B.M. Santosh thanked the MP for his efforts in overseeing welfare initiatives. He mentioned that the district regularly reviews the progress of over 40 departmental schemes.
