Gadwal: The Priyadarshini Jurala Project (PJP) dam is experiencing significant water inflows as of 6:00 PM on July 9, 2025. The dam’s current water level is 317.650 meters (1,042.159 feet), just below its Full Reservoir Level of 318.516 meters. The dam holds a gross storage of 7.933 TMC, with live storage at 4.226 TMC.

The dam is receiving a large inflow of 1,22,000 cusecs due to heavy upstream rainfall and increased river flow. To manage this, authorities have released 94,878 cusecs through the dam’s 14 spillway gates to maintain safe water levels.

Additionally, the PJP powerhouse is releasing 28,658 cusecs through turbines to generate hydroelectric power. The total water outflow is 1,26,365 cusecs, slightly more than the inflow to stabilize the reservoir.

For irrigation and drinking needs, Bhima Lift-I is drawing 1,300 cusecs, and Koilsagar Lift is using 315 cusecs. Nettampadu Lift Scheme and Bhima Lift-II have no current water drawals. The Left Main Canal and Right Main Canal are using 770 cusecs and 400 cusecs, respectively, including 150 cusecs through the RDS Link Canal. The Parallel Canal is not in use at the moment, and no other drawals are reported from the reservoir.

Evaporation losses are minimal, only 44 cusecs, due to the recent cloudy and rainy weather. Authorities are carefully monitoring the situation to ensure safety as the reservoir nears full capacity.

The PJP dam is under strict management as inflows remain high, nearing maximum reservoir levels. Effective coordination in spillway discharges, power generation, and irrigation ensures flood mitigation and water supply for agriculture and drinking.

Residents downstream are advised to stay alert as a precaution due to ongoing high water releases. District officials and irrigation engineers are on high alert, coordinating with weather forecasts and upstream water patterns to manage further inflows.
