Hyderabad: Residents of Nanal Nagar are facing severe hardship as the Manjeera drinking water supply has reportedly been disrupted for more than a week, with complaints of irregular supply and extremely low water pressure.
Locals say that even when water is released, the pressure is too low to reach many households, forcing residents to depend on private water tankers to meet their daily needs.
Residents Raise Concerns Over Irregular Supply
Several residents allege that the supply has become highly inconsistent, with water not being released at scheduled timings. In many areas, taps remain dry despite waiting for hours.
“We have not received proper Manjeera water for the past week. Even when it comes, the pressure is so low that it barely fills a few buckets,” said a local resident.
Allegations Against Line Staff
Some residents have also raised concerns alleging that line staff may be colluding with private tanker operators, resulting in deliberate disruptions or reduced supply.
According to these claims, water is not being released regularly, pushing residents to rely on tanker services, which adds to their financial burden.
Dependence on Tankers Increasing
With the ongoing disruption, many households have been forced to spend extra on water tankers, leading to increased expenses, especially for middle- and lower-income families.
Residents say that the situation has become particularly difficult during the ongoing summer, when water demand is already high.
Call for Immediate Action
Residents have urged the Hyderabad Water Works Department to immediately investigate the issue, restore regular supply, and address the allegations.
They have demanded:
- Restoration of proper water supply schedules
- Improved water pressure
- Inquiry into alleged irregularities
- Monitoring of tanker operations
