Hyderabad welcomed a new step toward peaceful conflict resolution on Sunday with the launch of the IFADAH Community Mediation Centre. This centre, set up in collaboration with the Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA), is located at the historic Shahi Masjid Bagh-e-Aam in Nampally.
The inauguration was led by Maulana Dr Ahsan bin Muhammad Al-Hamoomi, who serves as the Imam and Khateeb of the Shahi Masjid. During the event, legal professionals urged the public to consider mediation instead of immediately heading to court for disputes.
CH Panchakshari, Member Secretary of TSLSA and chief guest at the event, explained that mediation allows both sides to agree on a solution. Unlike court decisions, which are imposed, mediation is built on mutual understanding. It saves time, money, and supports emotional healing.
He pointed out that Telangana has 20 Family Courts across its 33 districts, where hundreds of cases are filed daily. Most of these stem from misunderstandings or ego clashes. Through mediation, many of these cases can be resolved faster and more peacefully—often before relationships break down.
Panchakshari also highlighted that mediation at the IFADAH Centre is completely free. In contrast, filing a case in court can cost between Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000, with additional costs reaching into lakhs. Court outcomes often favor one party, leading to appeals and long legal battles. Mediation, however, provides a balanced solution that both parties accept.
Maulana Al-Hamoomi reminded attendees that disagreements are a part of life. However, when unresolved, they can harm society. Preventing conflicts from escalating through mediation can help maintain harmony and protect relationships.
Senior Advocate Ajmal Ahmed, who played a key role in affiliating the centre with the Telangana High Court, also spoke at the event. Syed Omer Jaleel, a retired IAS officer, thanked Chief Justice Sanjay Pal and other legal figures for officially recognizing the centre.
Mohammed Abdul Javed Pasha, Senior Civil Judge and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Hyderabad (Sessions Division), also addressed the gathering, encouraging people to use the new centre for resolving their disputes in a fair and peaceful way.
