Narayanpet: In Thileru village, a farmer was hit by Marikal SI at a Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) center on Saturday. This led other farmers to protest against the police’s aggressive behavior.
The incident occurred during the distribution of urea at the Thileru PACS. A local Sub-Inspector (SI) reportedly assaulted a farmer, causing anger among the farmers. Recently, farmers in Narayanpet district have faced challenges getting urea. On Saturday, PACS received 600 bags of urea, attracting over 200 farmers who wanted their share. As tension rose near the office gate, Marikal SI Ramu lost his temper and allegedly struck a farmer.
The farmers were outraged and criticized the actions, asking, “How can the police use force when we are already struggling for urea?”
District SP Yogesh Gautam responded quickly, promising disciplinary action against the SI. He stated, “Police should not act harshly with farmers. They must remain calm and ensure smooth distribution.” The SP instructed officers to prepare security measures at fertilizer centers to avoid future issues.
This event highlights the ongoing fertilizer shortage crisis and the difficulties farmers face, often having to wait in long lines to get essential farming materials.
