Hyderabad police are on high alert after arresting a suspected terrorist named Syed Sameer. He was taken into custody in Bhoiguda, located in the Secunderabad area of the city. Authorities are now investigating whether he has any connections with terror groups based in Pakistan.
Sameer’s arrest came after a joint operation between the counterintelligence units of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Along with him, another suspect, Siraj-ur-Rehman, aged 29, from Vizianagaram, was also arrested. Both men are now in 14-day judicial custody, as ordered by a local court in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh.
Police say the arrests were made based on a tip-off. After getting a prisoner transit warrant from a Hyderabad court, Telangana police brought Sameer to Vizianagaram for further questioning.
Early investigations suggest that Sameer and Siraj were planning to carry out bomb blasts in Hyderabad. This plot reportedly followed the Indian Army’s retaliation against Pakistan after the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
Anti-terror teams are now searching several areas in Hyderabad that were previously used as hideouts by extremist groups. Authorities are closely examining Sameer’s communications, travel history, and possible links to a Saudi Arabia-based terrorist organization.
Officials believe that the evidence gathered during the investigation will be key to building a strong case against the suspects. The probe is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
