Hyderabad witnessed a heartbreaking incident at Gulzar Houz recently, where a devastating fire claimed lives and left the local community in shock. In a heartfelt response, dozens of jewellery shops and nearby businesses closed their operations on Monday to honor the victims and support grieving families.

The usually lively Charminar-Gulzar Houz market turned silent. More than 50 shopkeepers, mainly jewellers, lowered their shutters as a sign of respect. The area, typically crowded with shoppers, remained empty throughout the day. Authorities have also cordoned off the location as investigations continue.

The fire broke out early in the morning at a building above the popular Modi Pearls store. According to a police complaint, around 6:30 am, Vinod Modi received a call from a relative about the blaze. He and his son, Utkarsh Modi, rushed to the site only to see flames engulfing their family residence.

Utkarsh Modi has formally requested a full investigation into the cause of the fire. Responding to the complaint, Inspector K Chandra Sekhar, the Station House Officer at Charminar Police Station, has registered a case. Police officials have now launched a detailed probe into what started the tragic blaze.

The community’s unified act of closing shops reflects the deep sense of loss and solidarity with those affected.
