The Telangana government is moving forward with the construction of Radial Road-2 (RR-2), a major infrastructure project spanning approximately 81 kilometers. The strategic road will connect the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Budvel/Shamshabad to Kodangal, passing through the Shabad industrial corridor and Pudur. This new connectivity is expected to significantly improve transportation facilities in the region and support the growing industrial development along the route.
The project has gained momentum with revenue officials issuing public notifications to acquire approximately 300 acres of land in Shabad mandal. Landowners will receive compensation as per the Revenue Recovery Act-2013. The land acquisition process is currently underway, particularly in the Shabad stretch, and tenders for the main construction work are expected to be invited once this phase is finalized. The road is being developed as part of a larger infrastructure package with specific budgetary allocations aimed at ensuring seamless connectivity between the ORR and Regional Ring Road.
The Radial Road-2 will serve as a crucial link for the expanding industrial zones in Shamshabad and Shabad mandals. With the government planning to establish IT industries along the Shabad-Haitabad-Chevella route, the new road will provide better transportation facilities for these developments. Machinery, equipment, and materials required for industries in Shabad will be able to come directly from the airport cargo at Shamshabad, reducing transit time and improving logistics efficiency.
The project design includes provisions for service roads to be constructed parallel to Radial Road-2, which will significantly improve public transportation in the region. Officials have indicated that RTC bus services will be increased for people living in Shamshabad, Shabad, Shankarpally, and Chevella areas once the road becomes operational. The improved connectivity is expected to benefit students from areas around Shabad, Shankarpally, and Chevella who commute to engineering and degree colleges in Hyderabad.
Starting from Budvel on the Outer Ring Road, the road will pass through the Shabad industrial corridor and continue via Pudur to reach Kodangal. The route has been strategically planned to support future development needs and accommodate the increasing traffic from migrant labor corridors and industrial establishments. The lands being acquired at Haitabad in Shabad Mandal will facilitate the construction of the main carriageway along with the parallel service roads.
Revenue officials have confirmed that the compensation process for the 300 acres of land acquisition in Shabad mandal will follow the provisions of the Revenue Recovery Act-2013. The tendering process for construction will commence once the land acquisition formalities are completed in the Shabad stretch. The project has received budgetary sanction as part of the government’s infrastructure development initiative to enhance regional connectivity and support industrial growth in the area.
