Hyderabad: On Thursday, several areas of Hyderabad experienced strong winds and rain, bringing a welcome change from the hot and humid weather that had gripped the city over the past week. The rain helped cool down the temperature and created a more pleasant atmosphere.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has predicted that the weather will remain partly cloudy, with chances of light rain or thunderstorms in some parts of the city during the evening or night.
The day started with intense heat, but by afternoon, clouds began to gather, leading to a drop in temperature. By the evening, heavy rain and strong winds hit many areas of the city. Neighborhoods such as Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Miyapur, Madinaguda, Chandanagar, Lingampally, Kondapur, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Medchal, and others reported rainfall.
The sudden downpour and gusty winds caused traffic problems in many places. People faced difficulties on the roads, and in some areas, the power supply was also disrupted. Officials are working to restore services and provide relief where needed.
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society, Malkajgiri recorded the highest rainfall at 17 mm. Other areas such as Himayat Nagar saw 8.3 mm, Hafeezpet 7.5 mm, Ramachandrapuram 3.8 mm, and Serilingampally 3 mm of rain.
The IMD has issued a thunderstorm alert and forecasts light to moderate rain in Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana until April 13. Residents are advised to plan their travel carefully during this period.
