Hyderabad faced severe disruptions on Friday due to heavy rainfall. The downpour left many residents stranded as streets quickly filled with water, causing significant traffic delays.

Several neighborhoods experienced knee-deep flooding, making travel difficult. Motorists struggled through water levels reaching up to four feet in some areas. Parked vehicles were submerged, and water entered cellars in both commercial and residential buildings.

Rain affected many areas such as Miyapur, Kukatpally, Ameerpet, and Begumpet, among others. Notable flooding also occurred in Kothapet, Secunderabad, Jubilee Hills, and parts of the Old City like Kalapather and Yakutpura.

Some vehicles, like an auto-rickshaw, were swept away by strong currents at Nacharam Bhavaninagar nala. In Kalapather, motorcycles washed away, and homes in Jahanuma were flooded. An electronics store in Malakpet was also affected.

Over 4,100 personnel from the Monsoon Emergency Teams (METs) were deployed to manage the situation. These included 734 staff, with 368 from Static Teams, to address drainage and prevent water stagnation in key areas.

HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath checked waterlogged areas such as Patny nala and Lakdikapul. The Telangana Development Planning Society reported the highest rainfall of 114.8 mm in Marredpally and Balanagar by 8 pm, with significant rainfall also recorded in Uppal and Moosarambagh.
