Hyderabad: On Wednesday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy accused former Chief Minister and BRS President K Chandrashekar Rao of compromising Telangana’s interests by favoring Andhra Pradesh in the use of Godavari and Krishna river waters.

Reddy stated, “In terms of Krishna water usage, KCR has wronged Telangana far more than the injustices from the former unified Andhra Pradesh rulers. He deserves a severe penalty of 100 whippings.” He also mentioned that BRS leaders are falsely accusing the Congress to hide their own faults.

After attending a presentation by Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on the Krishna water and Medigadda project, Reddy criticized the previous BRS government for its negative impact on the state’s irrigation sector. He invited KCR to debate water project issues in the Assembly, covering the ten years of BRS governance and the Congress period. If KCR cannot attend due to health reasons, Reddy suggested holding a mock assembly at KCR’s Erravalli farmhouse.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the willingness to seek advice from experienced leaders like KCR for the state’s benefit. He invited KCR to ask the Speaker to hold Legislative Assembly sessions for a detailed discussion. Reddy assured that everyone’s dignity would be respected during these debates.

Reddy emphasized that the government’s aim is to inform the public and defend Telangana’s water rights. He criticized KCR for reducing the daily water allocation from 2 TMC to 1 TMC for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. He questioned changes in the design of the Pranahita-Chevella Lift Irrigation project, which removed 4 lakh acres of irrigated land in Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts. During the Congress era, irrigation was provided to 54 lakh acres at a cost of Rs 93,000 per acre, while it skyrocketed to Rs 15 lakh per acre under the BRS government, he highlighted.
