Hyderabad / Delhi:
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has accused the BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) working president, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), of being in Delhi to avoid an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He also mentioned that Telangana’s governor is under pressure regarding the issue, as he has not yet given permission for KTR’s detention.
During a program in Delhi, Revanth Reddy said that once KTR returns to Hyderabad, the governor might head to Delhi. He highlighted that the request for the governor’s permission has been pending for 15 days. Reddy questioned why BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) did not field any candidates in the recent Maharashtra elections, despite initially renaming his party from TRS to BRS to contest there. Reddy suggested that if KCR was truly against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he could have at least called for the defeat of the BJP in Maharashtra. He hinted that there was an “understanding” or deal between the BJP and BRS.
Revanth Reddy also claimed that during the Telangana movement, like many other politicians, he had provided financial support to KCR. He alleged that KCR’s family turned this funding into an investment, which helped them stay in power for almost a decade.
Criticizing Prime Minister Modi, Reddy argued that the PM’s focus on his home state of Gujarat was unfair. He claimed that investments meant for other states were being redirected to Gujarat. Reddy stated that if all states were treated equally, India could not only achieve a $5 trillion economy but even reach $10 trillion in the near future.
He further expressed concern about the upcoming delimitation of constituencies, saying it was unfair to South India. He urged that the 1971 census should be considered in the process. Reddy stressed the importance of starting a public debate on this issue before any decisions are made.
