KT Rama Rao Claims Musi Beautification Project Involves Pakistani Company

BRS working president KT Rama Rao made a surprising statement on Wednesday. He claimed that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is trying to give the Musi Beautification project to a company from Pakistan. According to Rao, there is no need for new sewage treatment plants (STPs) along the Musi River. He argued that the STPs built by the previous BRS government are enough.

Rao made these comments while speaking to the media after visiting the STPs in Fatehnagar, Kukatpally Assembly constituency. He proudly said that Telangana is the only state in South Asia with 100% sewage treatment facilities. He also mentioned that the BRS government had already spent `4,000 crore to treat 1,276 million liters of sewage per day (MLD). He criticized the central government, saying they played only a small role in these projects.

Rao also raised concerns about the Musi River project. He claimed there are attempts to give the contract to a blacklisted company from Pakistan. He said, “We are watching the corrupt intentions behind the Musi project. At the right time, we will expose the truth.” Rao praised the BRS government’s achievements, such as building homes for the poor and starting several development projects in Hyderabad. He credited former Chief Minister KCR for putting Hyderabad on track to become the first city in South Asia to treat 100% of its wastewater, thanks to the construction of 31 STPs across the city.

Lastly, Rao pointed out differences in the project’s estimated costs. He noted that one minister said the project would cost Rs.50,000 crore, while the Chief Minister stated it would be Rs.1.5 lakh crore. However, no detailed project report (DPR) has been provided yet. Rao reminded the government that the people of Hyderabad trust the BRS and urged them not to misuse this trust.
